My name is Lukáš Jezný and I am a full-time mobile app developer. Like probably every visitor to this site, I am the owner of a 10kWp photovoltaic power plant with a SOLAX inverter on my family home. Since starting the PV plant, I've been missing some sort of monitoring device to hang on my living room wall, as well as a thermometer. I know I have a mobile and web app, but I still missed "something on the wall". On a winter sunless day in January 2023, I got the idea to monitor poor production on a device. I looked around the internet to see what could be used and the decision fell on an e-ink display.

E-ink display works similarly to the famous children's toy - GRAFO. Anything that is drawn on the display stays there forever until it is shaken. In the case of e-ink, that means an electrical charge. An e-ink display only consumes electricity to redraw it, then it doesn't.

E-ink and cloud-based production display fit together perfectly. Cloud-based inverter solutions only load data once every few minutes (usually five). They are never real-time. Therefore, there is no need to replot more frequently. So you see the last known value on the e-ink display, which is no more than five minutes old. This is sufficient to show the indicative battery status, production and consumption. After all, this is also how the web and mobile applications of inverter manufacturers work.

In April 2023, I unveiled a device I'd been working on since January and was blown away by the unexpected interest. So I bought 3D printers and started printing boxes for e-ink displays. My wonderful wife Misha, who was sympathetic to my craziness, took on the complete shipping and production of these boxes. If you have anything to deal with, you will deal with her first and foremost. Please keep that in mind, because without her, this couldn't work! I would hate for her to go crazy over the packages. So we are not a classic e-shop with two-day delivery. If we have the relevant parts in stock, we will ship Solar Station to you within a week. We will inform you in an e-mail after your order how we are currently doing. We try to keep delivery times within 4 weeks maximum if possible.
